What would happen if I sneak into Mexico Illegally from America?
Question by R.C. Christian: What would happen if I sneak into Mexico Illegally from America?
…But kept walking to South America? I am going on a cross illegally at a border no where near the Drug Cartels. Also, I don’t plan on living in Mexico, I would just be passing through as I made my way to South America. If the Mexican Authorities saw me on the street walking South would they stop me and arrest me?

Well aside from the fact that there is no reason to enter Mexico illegally..it is so easy to enter legally… no one would probably notice. However, as you leave Mexico and try to enter Guatemala, you would have to try the same thing. That border is much more closely guarded…and they are not at all “tolerant” of illegals. It is not possible to recognize an” just looking at him walking down the street! there are over a million Canadaians and Americans living in Mexico…and some of them do not maintain a current visa.
I have been on buses many times before in central and south America where the entire bus is pulled over and everyone must show ID if resident of the country or passport if not. I’ve never had this happen in Mexico however, but I expect it could. So, you better have some form of ID with you that they are going to accept or who knows where you could end up.
nothing will happen if you just cross the border walking right next to the cars that are driving in
they do not check you unless you have a big car then they might check it for drugs
as your making your way across though if you are in a car you will be stoped lots of times they do not permit you to take fruits across certen lines
but im sure you can get across by buss no problem
its much harder to come back
The only thing that will make your entry into Mexico “illegal” is if you enter without at least a tourist visa, or FM-T, and plan on staying more than 72 hours or venture farther than the border region.
An FM-T is easy to get for only about $20 from Mexican immigration at the border.
For any international travel you would be well advised to carry a US Passport to be able to identify yourself.
You will encounter many inspection stations along the way… certainly at every state border in Mexico and they will ask for your documents. Of course if you want to evade these inspections, it won’t be hard… but why?
Just walking around in Mexico, you are not stopped and asked for anything; and you would only be arrested if you broke or were suspected of breaking a civil or criminal law. Even then, it isn’t a matter for immigration unless it is a matter of moral disgrace, for which you will probably be deported… but that is rare.
Although with Arizona’s new law, Mexico’s attitude may change.
Hope you have a good pair of walking shoes! Good luck…

The US Border Patrol is more likely to pick you up on your way to Mexico than you getting bothered by Mexican Immigration.
