Question by amar452672: Las vegas or Los Angeles Trip?
Hi Friends, I and my wife are planning to use to 7 days holidays of Christmas by seeing South Coast side of America. Now we are not much aware of how things are nor have got enough time to google.
So my friends please advise me which place is better Los Angeles or Las Vegas. In case both can be covered in 6-7 days which places are not to be missed. Which are the best attractions, and which ever information that you feel is helpful to know.
Thanks a lot friends,
Kind regards,
Anand

Save a day for Las Vegas, but spend the other 6 in LA:
There are literally hundreds of things to do here in LA. Here is my list of “must sees”. Visit as many as you have time for.:
Disneyland: The Happiest Place on Earth. Half a billion visitors can’t be wrong. (Sometimes it seems all at once)
Universal Studios: A theme park that grew out of a studio tour.
Even if you don’t visit Disneyland or Universal Studios Tour, Downtown Disney District and Universal City Walk are very fun places to visit for shopping and eating. And they’re free to visit.
Hollywood: Hollywood Boulevard is ready for its close-up, thanks to years of urban renewal and renovation. Enjoy the Walk of Fame, Entertainment Museum, Chinese Theatre and more. You can see a lot for free. The Hollywood & Highland complex is AMAZING. It looks like it was designed by Cecil B. DeMille, and has lots of shops and restaurants, and the Kodak Theater (home of the Academy Awards). I also like the El Capitan theater, right across the street, because it has been restored to its former glory. And the Hollywood Bowl is a GREAT place to listen to concerts outdoors.
Rodeo Drive, 90210: Packed with exclusive shops, full of gawkers. They all came to enjoy the excess. Free, unless you intend to buy something.
Venice Beach: Los Angeles kitsch and over-the-top culture at its best. Here you’ll find Muscle Beach, street performers and tacky shops galore. Fun, VERY interesting, but I avoid it after dark, when it gets a little TOO interesting for my taste. And it’s a short bike ride from Santa Monica Pier.
Santa Monica Beach and Pier: Great beach scene and a classic seaside amusement park, complete with antique carousel that has been in a lot of TV and movies. (The Sting and “Three’s Company” come immediately to mind). After visiting the pier, you can ride a bike south a couple miles to Venice Beach.
Santa Monica Third Street Promenade – Downtown Santa Monica’s shopping promenade is often the scene of movie star-sightings. Just a short walk from the Santa Monica Pier.
Sunset Boulevard: Perhaps one of the world’s most famous streets, it began as a route between the stars’ posh neighborhoods and the Hollywood studios. It runs from downtown to the ocean, passing through the “Sunset Strip” on its way. It makes for a fun drive. Along the way, you see a lot of different neighborhoods: Hollywood, West Hollywood, Bel Air, and Pacific Palisades. When you get to the ocean, stop at Gladstone’s for Fish.
Queen Mary: Once the largest ship afloat, she’s been docked in Long Beach for longer than she sailed, and her elegance never fails to impress. Free to visit. You can actually stay on board, for a price.
Farmers Market and The Grove – A new shopping complex right next to a Los Angeles landmark, The Grove and Farmers Market coexist. Enjoy a movie or shopping, and then take the trolley to the Farmers Market for lunch or dinner. It is right next to CBS, so walk across the lot to see if they are taping “The Price is Right”. You might even get in.
TAAB: The Americana at Brand- The newly opened TAAB, developed by the same group that gave us The Grove, breathes new life into Glendale, and gives all those hip people in Eagle Rock and the eastern half of LA a great place to go.
Griffith Park – Home of the Los Angeles Zoo, Griffith Park Observatory, Travel Town, the Greek Theatre, and Gene Autry Museum of Western Heritage.
Getty Museum – The Getty’s architecture is so beautiful that it keeps me fascinated. No matter whether you like their art or architecture better (or maybe you’ll just enjoy the view), the Getty is sure to please. Free.
Attend a TV taping – You can get free tickets at audiencesunlimited.com, tvtix.com, or see the booth at Universal City walk. It’s very interesting to see a show being taped. The most popular, by far, is the Tonight show with Jay Leno. Check the NBC web site for all the details there.
Wicked at the Pantages Theater- Located in the heart of Hollywood, this is an excellent and long running production, the most POPULAR show in LA right now.
Places to eat:
In-N-Out Burger: Multiple locations, best burger in LA, ask anyone.
Pink’s Hot Dogs: 709 N. La Brea, just north of Melrose. You might even see a celebrity. Maybe.
Tommy’s Chili Burgers: Look for the shack, an LA tradition. The original location is at Beverly & Rampart, a couple miles west of downtown.
Canter’s Deli: 419 N. Fairfax, between Beverly & Melrose. Near CBS, you might spot a celebrity.
Phillippe’s: 1001 N. Alameda. Great roast beef sandwiches. Near Union Station and Olvera Street. Watch the mustard, it’s hot.
The Pantry: Corner of Figueroa and 9th, downtown. Huge portions, they never close, GREAT steak and eggs.
Places to Stay:
Since LA is so spread out, there is no single place that is close to EVERYTHING. Most people who come here tend to stay in Hollywood, Santa Monica, or Anaheim.
In Hollywood, I recommend the Renaissance Hotel at H
I advice to visit both, it’s only a 4 hour ride and you’ll get to see route 66 too which is pretty nice.
Start with Los Angeles. LA is a big city, so there’s enough time to go and see everything. Las Vegas, is cool but it gets kinda boring after a weekend.
There are lots of things to do in LA which don’t have to be expensive. Of course you want to visit all main tourist attractions like Hollywood and Downtown LA.
A fun thing to do in Hollywood is to visit the Jimmy Kimmel Show, it’s free and you’ll experience the whole things yourself, just keep in mind to stay in line on time so you can see the show.
Other main attractions in Hollywood are the Kodak Theatre, Chinese Theatre, Walk of fame, Grove shopping complex and Rodeo drive.
Hollywood is fun, and you can see everything in one day. There are lots of souvenir shops and the Grove shopping complex has stores like Coach and Victoria Secrets. There are lots of street artists performingg on The Walk of Fame.
If you wanna go to a beach I recommend Venice/Santa Monica, it’s beautiful and down to the boardwalk. You can shop, eat and there’s lots of sightseeing.
The Getty centre museum is also a fun place to visit, it’s the coolest museum in LA. The art is nice, but the architecture and view are amazing! It’s really cool.
If you like science the Griffith Park Observatory is also a nice place to visit, you can watch stars and laser shows.
If you’re going to LA you just can’t forget the Dodgers Stadium. If you’re in the right season, take in a game! Don’t eat the famous Dodger hot dog, they suck!
If you like basketball, visit the Staples Center. Watch a game, or run into famous celebs.
There are also lots of concerts. Stars like Justin Timberlake performed there during games.
You cannot visit LA and forget about Downtown. It’s the financial and fashion district of LA. There are tall skyscrapers and it’s right in the heart of LA. Don’t forget to visit the Libary tower, which is 75 floors high! Besides buildings there isn’t that much to do in downtown. It’s just the big buildings to see. Downtown can be pretty dangerous at night with gangs haha, so don’t walk away from the crowd to some dark spot in the area.
If you would like to visit an amusement park , I recommend Universal Studios. Don’t go to Disney, it’s to crowded and too big to see everything in one day. Take a ”behind the scenes tour” to view the sets of series like Desperate housewives. They have nice and funny rides too. Don’t forget to walk around the Universal Citiwalk, where you can go shopping, dining and see live concerts.
If you wanna visit a park for the rollercoaster rides I recommend Magic Mountain, those rides are CRAZY!
Getty Villa in Malibu is quite interesting too, it’s a reacreation of Pompeii before the Vesuvius volcane erupted. It has nice gardens and art.
If you wanna go shopping go to Melrose in Hollywood. They have exclusive boutiqes which you with lots of vintage stores, but also designer stores. You’ll probably see lots of celebs overhere. Michael Jackson, Nicole Richie and Mischa Barton are often spotted overthere. Go during Lunch time if you wanna see the celebs.
If you like bargains go shopping at Camarillo outlets, they have outlet stores like Adidas, Versace, Nike, ect.
Don’t forget to visit Beveryly Hills and Long beach too!
Las vegas is amazing! It’s the city of entertainment and the light are simply wonderfull! But Las Vegas is much easier to go through then LA, it would be a waste of time to stay longer than just 2 or 3 days.
Visit the Bellagio Hotel. It’s one of Las Vegas famous hotels. Go view their botanical garden, it gets a make over every season, so it’s always something suprising. Also go see their fountain show outside the hotel, with music and lights.
Don’t forget to visit New York New York, a complete replica of New York all in one hotel. Take their rollercoaster ride, to get to see the city from a whole different point of view.
Go to the Venetian and take a ride in their replica Venetian rivers. The boat tour will include a opera singer on your boat. Pay attention to the ceiling of the Venetian.
Also visit Paris-Las Vegas to see a replica of the Eiffel tower.
Smoke a Havana cigar the Medici Cigar Club in the Monte Carlo hotel.
See the pirate show at Treasure Island, altough I’m not sure if they do it around christmas because the show is always cancelled when there’s wind, but maybe they have a christmas special.
Go to the Luxor to see the famour pyramide hotel.
The Palms have great and sick rides! dont forget to visit.
Visit the Nevada State Museum & Historical Society if you wanna learn about the history of Nevada.
And if you’re around the area anyway go see the Grand Canyon.
Good luck !:D
Ive been to both. They are Great! Plus there are only 4 hours apart. But I would pick Las Vegas!
Good Luck……
Las Vegas is kind of an overstimulating wasteland. I’d pick Los Angeles, personally, at least we have museums and historical sites.
