Hi,just wondering if anyone can give me some info on brazil.I would love to go to a place called alagoas(if anyone has heard of it) I just wanted to know if I would be safe there.My grandfather was born there,thats why I am so desperate to go.

Alagoas is a State.
The capital of the State is Maceio. It’s a friendly city with low ceime rate.It’s mainly a sugar port , with a major petrochemical plant
The beaches near the town center are polluted but you can go outside the city.

If you’re American, check out the US State Department website (below). Click the link then click on Travel Warnings. As of 5AM Eastern 21 Feb 07, there is no warning for Brazil.
Also on the travel page, there is a link to register with the US Embassy at your destination. That way they know where you are and how long you are supposed to be there. It’s also handy if something at home comes up and your family needs to get ahold of you.
