I’m studying abroad…Venezuela or Argentina?

Question by Brooke: I’m studying abroad…Venezuela or Argentina?
I am studying abroad in the spring and I was planning to go to Argentina, but I recently learned about an opportunity to go to Venezuela. I understand that Buenos Aires (where I would be studying) is a Cosmopolitan city with a European feel, and that is what attracted me to it, but now I’m re-thinking it, and I may want to be more adventurous and travel Venezuela. My host city would be Merida.

I am studying International Relations and Spanish, but I am hoping to get a lot of adventure out of this trip, weather it be outdoorsy or more like city adventures.

Also, I am hoping that I can work with an AIDS NGO in either country. Any feedback is much appreciated!!

ARGENTINA!

Buenos Aires is known as the “Paris of the Southern Hermisphere” and the country is more modernize than Venezuela. You can take a day trip to neighboring Uruguay which is acrossed the Rio Plata river.

Venezuela is going through immense political turmoil under the leadership of Hugo Chavez. Relations with the U.S. are tense. I would avoid going there.

if you r American Dont go to Venezuela …. right now 55% of that country is anti- US , and Red shirt people would like to kill Americans … so go to Argentina … I’m from Venezuela > I don’t want you to have a bad experience …..

I think you best re-think again and go to Buenos Aires. Venezuela has Hugo Chavez and the guy is crazy. You just never know what a country is going to do especially since they hate Americans from one day to the next. Next thing you know you may be running for your life or to the nearest embassy. He is unpredictable and the people that support him are too.
