February is OK in South America. July will be Second maxi ma rains. It means that you will be there in late summer and real rainy times. Even if all your papers are intact stick to Trans American Highway. Do not deviate unless you are havin a person along with you whom you know before your departure from your native place. Springing youth wants experimenting. Any way as you are having option of Spain , consider that as first choice, so that you expose your self to the root of Spanish & Portuguese cultures.
