Honeymoon in South America?
Question by Blaine Richard: Honeymoon in South America?
I’m trying to get an idea of a honeymoon for this coming June. I am looking into different places all over, but this question is specific to South America. We are ok with going to 1 or 2 different places to achieve all the things we want, but basically beautiful tropical beaches with nice sand and water, a bit of adventure (rafting, zip lines, rock climbing, virtually whatever), fun things for young people (bars, clubs what not, we are 24) but nothing too crazy like carnival would be a bit overwhelming but I don’t think we will be there for that. I have looked at places like Pipa, and Olinda. But I feel like I’m either not finding what I want between these cities and some others… I was just hoping some people here have experience around brazil and could give me some of their input. But yah, I’m just trying to see if it’s possible to get all that within 1 to 2 locations, because we aren’t trying to get on flights constantly.
I am also open to ideas of really anywhere within south/central america (except Mexico)
I understand this is winter, that is why I’m looking at places close to the equator.

Florianópolis, an island in Brazil, would be the place if you chose another month… June is cold there so you won’t be able to go to beaches, because it’s winter.
Florianópolis is an island in South Brazil with beautiful beaches, from desert ones to crowded full-of-young-people ones. You can also go trekking, sandboarding, paragliding, etc
It has an interesting nightlife with many bars, clubs and parties, so it’s a good option for young people.
But in order to enjoy all these things, you must choose a month that is not cold. Late October to early April would be fine. May to September are cold months in South Brazil.

Hey be careful June and July is winter in south america! I also agree about the Brazil answer but I dont know about the weather there.
First, South America is huge, and if you want hot weather… well, Brazil is a very good option, Although countries as Venezuela, which is in the caribbean is a great option too!
If you want to be quiet, big cities are not a good option as Sao Paulo or Rio de Janeiro… If I were you, I´ll look for Buzios… A great place!
I would recommend an island called Boipheba which is in Bahia of Brazil. Spend a week there for the sun. Then come to Buenos Aires for some culture and nightlife.
If it were my choice, it’d be Argentina, Brazil, Colombia or Venezuela, which are my favorite locations in South America. Ecuador would be okay, but it’s nowhere near as great as the other four, especially if it is beaches you have on mind.
Now, for June, I say don’t get anywhere below the Equator! You’ll freeze in Argentina! Brazil is great, just stay away from the South, and hey, the coast is absolutely wonderful there! Same with Colombia: lots of great places to visit, but don’t go too far South or you’ll freeze, too. I think your best choice is Venezuela: the only cold places are near the Andes, and there’s plenty to see and do without heading that far South-West.
Sweetie, Venezuela is PARADISE for a honeymoon. Trust me, I know: I spent MY honeymoon there! The beaches are marvelous! You won’t see anything more “tropical” than the gorgeous coastline in Venezuela. I recommend Oriente (the East coast), Mochima National Park in particular as it is breathtakingly beautiful and there’s so many places to see, things to do… Bahia de Cata is another great place! People like to climb the mountain, then descend through the other side right down into the beach. Amazing. And all across the coastline you can practice all sorts of sports and stuff. My favorite experience was paragliding from El Morro. And if you head West, or Occidente, you can go to Los Roques, which is a cluster of beautiful white-sanded islands that will take your breath away. They’re pricy, that’s certain, but it’s SO worth it.
