Coconut Drink, Brazilian style
We are two Australians on vacation doing a two-week South American tour with Trafalgar Tours. My wife, Diane, and I were walking along the Copacabana beach front early this morning. We were surrounded by local Brazilians, all walking, jogging, bicycling or walking their dogs before the heat of the day turned the place into a furnace. We walked from our hotal, the excellent Windsor Excelsior hotel, to the north end of the beach and back. On the way back to the hotel – which does a truly excellent buffet breakfast – my wife and I stopped at a little beach kiosk to buy two coconuts to drink. The guy there cuts them open as you watch; you push in a drinking straw and enjoy the refreshing and healthy contents. The cost? It was three Brazilian Rials (B) each coconut. And the nice guy allowed me to shoot this video of him. Nice people these Brazilians. Truly! I love them.
