Argentina walking, camping, drinking, cultural holiday advice?
Question by Willzz: Argentina walking, camping, drinking, cultural holiday advice?
I am going to Argentina in December for two weeks and want to know what I should do. My first idea was to fly to Buenos Aires for a few days then fly south, hire a car and drive round camping and walking. Any recommendations of places to visit, options for car hire (perferably 4×4)? Other ideas?

It all depends on what kind of activities you’re in to. If you’re tech savvy, you should definitely check out Captial Federal. If you’re more of an adventurous type, you could wander around the other provinces besides Buenos Aires. If you like the heat, go north (Salta, Jujuy, etc.). If you like the snow, go south (Ushuaia).
Car rentals aren’t that popular compared to the states, but you’ll probably be able go get a good deal somewhere.
I reccommend you visit Mendoza for some wine tasting activities. There’s a Spanish School in Buenos Aires that organizes trips to places like Mendoza, IguazĂș Falls, etc. Maybe you should check it out.

Renting a car in Agentina and mostly in the South, Very Expensive and not a good idea.
Best to use the Bus, it is cheap and safe.

I have been there many times since I was 1. Like a comment above it depends on what you like to do. I know about three cities.
1. Buenos Aires.
But you want to travel elsewhere so nevermind.
2.Bariloche
This is a mountainous area where you could probably go hiking. Its great to visit during their winter, or our summer, Since they have great places for skiing and festivals: Fiesta Nacional de la Nieve ( National Festival of Snow) in August and Fiesta Provincial de las Colectividades in July. They also have REALLY goo chocolate. :]
3. Mar Del Plata
This is a good city to visit during their summer, or our winter. Its a 2-3 hour drive from Buenos Aires. You can go there on Coach buses from BA too. They have beautiful beaches so if you are into beaches you should really visit. Also there sell Dulce de Leche, and Havana Alfajores. (My favorite) and have great meat restaurants by the beach.
Hope this helps and have fun! :]
