What do you think? Answer below!
No, it was Scandinavians who first arrived to North America. The Spanish are the most famous and known for conquering South and part North America.
No it was the Vikings before 1492, when Columbus discovered the Caribbean Islands
Vikings did land in Newfoundland in like 1001 or something around there…
It’s quite possible that the Vikings landed in North America much earlier than the Spanish, probably around 1000AD.
They were superb navigators, their ships were robust, had enough provisions etc. It’s plausible.
They got to Greenland, so North America is not far away. There is probably little or no trace in North America for the simple reason they did not build any settlements due to lack of numbers and their short stay.
I did read somewhere that if they did settle, contact was simply lost with them (forgot where they were, the settlers had to move etc) or the settlers got wiped out by the Native Indian population.
Well the Vikings maybe didn’t know it was the ‘New World’. But Columbus was an Italian actually, eventhough he sailed on Spanish ships
