We have booked a last minute holiday trip to Cairns for 3 nights, which we will arrive at Friday and depart at Monday (Easter season)
Providing the time (The weather forecast also notes that thunderstorms may be apparent … dammit) what shall I do there? We’re staying at the Mantra Trilogy Hotel, which is situated at the CBD. We really do want to visit the daintree rain forest and Great Barrier Reef, how shall we get there, and any suggestions?

Use a tour agaency to get you to transport to places. I have been to the great barrier reef and it is beautiful. I wne t with the tour Quick Silver and we had fun. I also went scuba diving. The daintree is also beautiful!

A day trip out to Green island – Otherwise you can go out on the Outer Barrier Reef on their platform for lunch.
Cable Skiing Water Park is new to Cairns –

The skyrail takes you up to the rainforest village of Kuranda. http://www.kuranda.org – or take the skyrail up one way and train back down to the city. Kuranda Scenic Railway http://www.ksr.qr.com.au
See a croc right on top of the casino in the city – http://www.cairnsdome.com.au (once you pay you can go back anytime in the next 3 days I believe at no extra cost)
Daintree Discovery Centre – http://www.daintree-rec.com.au and at Cape Tribulation – Jungle Surfing http://junglesurfing.com.au/
You must do a bungy jump while here – http://ajhackett.com.au Go on a Sunday – they have local bands up there playing – an awesome time!
Also every Saturday on the Cairns Esplanade is market day, a showcase of local quality stalls as well as local entertainment artists as they showcase their talent. – Worth going, then of course you have the great lagoon !
If it does rain (and it hasn’t for weeks!) the rainforest & skyrail is at it’s best anyhow, so don’t let it put you off!
