Snowboarding – The Oakley Arctic Challenge 2007 – Norway

The Arctic Challenge is a snowboarding contest arranged for and by the riders themselves. It was started by Norwegian professional snowboarders Daniel Franck and Terje Haakonsen. The contest was established as an alternative to the former competitions that had become streamlined and run by schedules and directions from TV-coverage, major sponsors and other external forces. It now holds the status as the final for the “Ticket to Ride Tour”, and is held in Norway annually – usually at a location north of the Arctic Circle. (c) wikipedia

The standard cabin seems to be approximately 19′ x 8′ and has two pull down beds that measure 78″ x 32″. Lighting is quite adequate and a combination radio/telephone plays primarily English/American 1960s/70s music with Norge background banter unless one wants to look out the 32″ porthole and watch the wonderful scenery drift beyond. Some folk could find the bathroom to be a tad spartan in terms of space to lay out cosmetics or shaving gear. The shower takes some navigation as it is tiny, but extremely functional. The food service is splendid with open buffet available for both the morning and lunch while dinner is a set menu. Expect to find salmon, cod, herring, various
