18 years for drinks up to vol 22%, 20 years for drinks over that.
The drinking age is 18.
This applies to to drinking any vol. alcohol in pubs, restaurants etc. and buying alcohol that has less than 22%.
20years is the
Buying age for alcohol 22% or over.
Alcohol trade is government controlled in Finland, so they don’t have liquor stores like elsewhere. Instead they have this one chain of shops, called “Alko”, that’s the only place where you can buy anything over 4.7% to take home with you.
You can buy beer, cider etc. 4,7% or under from grocery stores and other places too (at the age of 18 [and between 9am and 9pm only]), but for anything over that vol. you have to go to either Alko, or a pub/restaurant/nightclub etc.
If only travelling as a tourist you’ll probably only use the public drinking places, so the age concerning your case would be 18.
Hope this helps!
Have a nice trip, Finland is a great place to visit, enjoy!
18 for mild drinks like beer and wine
20 for stronger drinks like vodka and scotch.
