What stores/businesses can I expect to be open or close in South Africa during a public holiday?

I will be on Oudtshoorn on Aug. 10th, and I hear there is a public holiday on this day. We were hoping to go to the cango caves, ostrich farms etc., would these types of places be open on a public holiday? How about grocery stores and restaurants? Banks? What can we expect?

Most major retails will be open.
Im not sure about that Cango caves etc, but they usually only close for public holidays such as Christmas etc. Banks will be closed, or if open, close earlier, but you will still be able to use your Visa electron card at various outlets. Restaurants will be open

I have not, but since I live here I have been to many places in South Africa and would recommend you do it. I would however recommend you leave it for summer as winters are very cold.

My hubbie and I want to go july/August this year (late honeymoon)and have looked at the Serengeti, Kenya and Namibia. Camping is an option.Love the idea of trekking up to see gorillas, seeing lions, tribes, and visiting the sea/mountains/rainforests. We’ve seen some packages but prices vary greatly as does whats included in the price. We want to get the most for our money and would love some guidance from anyone who has already booked and been on one of these holidays.

I don’t know as I have not personally taken any of these trips, but you might want to look at the below sites, at least this way you can get a good idea of what is available from various tour companies. You’ll also be able to search according to your budget. Bon Voyage!

I am sure that your safari experience will be one that you will cherish forever.if you have got a lot of money.
A lot of money, so you can pay by the ton just to be safe.
What cultural experiece you are loking for, i do not know.
