What’s a good gift (besides a travel guide) to get someone who’s going to Australia ?

Question by Concerned Citizen: What’s a good gift (besides a travel guide) to get someone who’s going to Australia ?
My best friend is going to Australia in January and he’s so excited. I already bought him a cool traveler’s guide. But I want to add to it with some other goodies that I can send to him as a gift package. What do you think?

If he has electronics like a mp3 or ipod or electric razor, toothbrush get him an electrical adapter.
Depending on how much you want to spend a cheap dvd player would help on the plane ride.

umm….well u can get him a hat and sunscreen…sunglasses will be good too since in january it’ll be really hot and sunny.
also if you intend to send a gift package after he arrives, (is he staying in australia for a long time? or just a short time?) you can send him goodies that he loves from Japan. If he is only travelling to australia for a short time, he can find almost everything he’ll need there. If he is going for a long time, u can always add in a photo album filled with photos of fun times (i made one for my friend who moved to the States) that will make a good present.

U can also get him other books about australia, other travel guides or even an “australian” (english) pharsebook…..
The goodies can be anything you know your friend loves, it doesn’t have to be connected to this trip =]

    Hi—
You never mentioned price .. if that is an issue and you have a budget then that will minimize the list …
    -some ideas—-
-Ipod (some songs for the journey)
-Book (signed by author you can get them from ebay..also get the book by his favorite author)
-How about a Portable dvd player (with a dvd)
    -psp ds etc
    -Digital Camera
    Some items which are cheaper……..
    -a book
    -Pack of cards
-Painting/drawing set (if he like that kind of thing)

    Good luck
