You will need a visa. Travelling alone is OK for anyone over 15 if they need to change planes but much younger children are allowed to travel alone on a single flight. International flights usually require a signed note from the parents for people under 17. Your travel agent or airline will give you the details.
Ticket prices vary enormously from time of year and the airline you fly. Again your travel agent is the best bet but there are some web sites that will do comparative ticket pricing for you. The cheapest places to stay in Brisbane or any Australian city are usually the backpacker hostels. Google Backpacker Brisbane for lots of information on the different places and prices.
You will need travel insurance but I do not know what it costs. You particularly want to be covered for any medical expenses unless France has a reciprocal arrangement with Australia in which case hospitals will be free. Check before you go, though.

Yes you will need a visa and yes you can travel alone. The cost of plane tickets and accommodation can vary alot from place to place. when going to Brisbane make sure you include a visit to Australia’s famous Gold Coast, the home of great beaches and surf and also theme parks. The gold Coast also has some amazing national parks for bushwalking and nature spotting.
You will need a Visa, as you do to go to any country, pretty much. Plane tickets and hotel tickets you should research yourself, Yahoo Answers isn’t the most reliable source. Jetstar is generally the cheapest Australian airline, however not very reliable. Qantas is the most trusted.
The best age to travel by yourself would be 18, as you’re an adult here. You can’t hire out hotels or anything without being 18. You also can’t drink or buy cigarettes (i understand in france they aren’t very strict about that).
Be careful, smoking is a bit of a taboo here. You can’t smoke in pubs/clubs, indoors in public spaces or restaurants.
Also, watch out for Drop Bears.
Seriously.
