What are the chances of getting a cheap last minute flight from UK to New Zealand at Christmas?

Question by Cal R: What are the chances of getting a cheap last minute flight from UK to New Zealand at Christmas?
I’ve been looking for flights recently so i can go out to NZ over the christmas period to see my parents but their all too expensive at the moment, would it be worth waiting and jumping on a last minute offer near the time as i have no strict travel plans to keep?

I’m leaving on/around the 19/12/2007 and returning to the UK on the 02/01/2007, but as i say these dates have a degree of flexibility.

Zero. Not only do prices get more expensive in the lead up to x-mas, there are so many antipodeans also trying to get home for the summer that there is a distinct lack of availability, there probably wont even be any last minute offers. Christmas and summer are the high-season when it comes to traveling down-under. Depending on how much time you have off, you are better off traveling in the “shoulder season”, ie before about the 10th of December and after about the 15th of January depending on the airline (check with your travel agent)
