Question by No criticism allowed: Want to go on holiday backpacking from 1st November to 15th November 2010 – Any suggestions?
Not interested in: Australia or New Zealand (i’d need more time to enjoy than 15 days) nor am I interested in Europe (too cold) or North Africa or Turkey (too much hassle from the locals).
I’ve already been to the USA and Canada in the past and also the Caribbean… so do not want to return.
I’ve also been to Cuba & Central America ( Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua) and I travelled to Africa (Uganda and Rwanda two years ago)
Any suggestions?
I just want somewhere hot- not a resort – to backpack and explore for a couple of weeks.

believe it or not, can I suggest the Canary islands? Start on Tenerife and stay outside the Las Americas area. Visit El Teide, walk the Masca gorge, do lots of other walking, visit the north.
then get the boat to La Gomera which also has lots of lovely walking. And look back; the view of Teide with the peak floating above the clouds is wonderful. On the other side of island you can watch the sun set behind El Hierro – perhaps you could even go there!
with some research there is lots to do.

In the 7,107 islands of the Philippines because it is exotic, amazing, diverse and unique, like in the islands of Bohol, Palawan, Davao, Cebu, ILocos,Boracay, Batanes or mountains like Banaue, Sagada and Tagaytay!
I would suggest looking around Jordon and even across into Syria. It’s compact enough to be done in 2 weeks and it’s pretty different.
