Vacation Packages to Australia? Best Places To Visit?

Question by Louise: Vacation Packages to Australia? Best Places To Visit?
I would like to take a vacation to Australia with my husband. We would like to move out of Washington so we are exploring all our options! So we would like to learn more about what Australia is all about, the housing and of course the scenery. I would like to know if anybody has used any sites for the packages and also were are the best places to stay (cities)? I would love any advice about vacationing in the Australia :)

You MUST see the Great Barrier Reef…one of the natural wonders of the world .
You MUST see the Gold Coast & Sunshine Coasts of Queensland….their amazing beaches & rain forest hinterland
You MUST see Sydney ….it’s beautiful harbour , Opera House & famous bridge..
You MUST see Uluru ( Ayres Rock ) & The Olgas …our vast interior & incredible natural features.

If you have any time left over , Melbourne is worth a visit as well ….it is a large cosmopolitan city …lots to see & do.

As far as accommodation is concerned maybe the best plan would be to firstly decide just what time you will be here , what exactly you want to see & then arrange a package around that , including travel arrangements…it’s the best way to get a good price across the whole trip.

why not arrive in Sydney and have a few days there then pick up a camper van or a hire car and travel the West coast to Cairns. If you get a car there is plenty of accommodation everywhere. remember though we drive on the left .there are some fabulous places to explore It’s very nice around Nelson bays and in Queensland the Gold Coast and Airlie beach which is the gateway to the WhitSunday islands is a must. allow at least 2 weeks for this trip . of course one can drive there a lot quicker but you want time to have a look at the numerous places on the way. the longer the better. if you plan staying longer there is so so much more but 6 months travelling australia you wouldn’ see it all Western australia is amazing but that is like going over to another country it is so big vast and diverse.

WOW! That is like asking who my favourite child is!

Every state in Australia has something to offer depending on what you like to do with your spare time. Most people seam to stick with the two bigger cities of Sydney and Melbourne, but each of the other capitals are just as good. I live in Western Australia. We are an isolated state (Apparently perth is the most isolated capital city in the world!) but also one of the most (if not the most) prosperus in Australia. The WA coastline is spectacular. And while I agree that the Great Barrier Reef is pretty awesome, Ningaloo Reef in WA is even better. nowhere else in the country do you get to swim with the gorgeous whale sharks.

The southwest of WA is chocker block full of world class wineries. As is South Australia, Victoria and also NSW. Tasmania probably has the freshest produce in the land but is a much cooler climate.. Victorians are completely sports crazy – but melbourne is COLD!!!!! The northern territory is mostly outback, but does boast Ullaru (or Ayers Rock as it was commonly known until it reverted back to it’s Aboriginal heritage). The weather up that was is divided into the wet season and the dry season.

Quite seriously, you could get a giant map of Australia and throw a dart at it. Wherever the dart landed, you could go there and be happy with your choice. My husband and I were looking to relocate to another part of Australia (until the Global Credit Crisis meant that jobs were a little unstable) and we looked at everywhere from darwin in the North to Hobart in the south. Just think about what you be doing for a living – a lot of the bigger companies have their head offices in the East, but a lot of the mining sector is still located in perth. What do you like to do in your spare time? If the beach is high on the list, perth is your place or anywhere north of Sydney.

EDIT: As you can see, many people say “stick to the East Coast”. The majority of these people would have never travelled to the West Cost (or even to South Australia or the Northern Territory!!)

here are a couple of sites for you to look up on Western Australia.

  3. I personally think the cities are best. Stick to the east coast: Queensland is great for tourists (the Great Barrier Reef is cool). Sydney has heaps to do and lots of beaches and Melbourne has a great night life and lots of shopping. The is lots to see in other areas but they are too isolated and will cost to much money to travel around to much. Houses are cheapest in Queensland and the weather is the best there too. I would go see a travel agent and you can spend a few days in each city, there are many hotels in all different price ranges.
