Q&A: How to send big packages to Australia, Sydney from Finland?
Question by creepyviolet: How to send big packages to Australia, Sydney from Finland?
I am moving from Vaasa, Finland to Sydney and need to take stuff from my flat, like books and clothes. Around 100 kilos, no furniture. Only way I know is by POSTI, but that would be around 500 euros per 30 kg package. Does anybody know cheaper way, and how long will it take then?
Would appreciate your answers a lot, with links if you have,

Try finding shipping companies in Google search, they are cheaper, take longer – a few months, but there’s no REALLY cheap way to move your stuff around the globe, it will cost you more than the items are worth, so i’d only move the things of personal value and memories, everything else is best to leave behind and buy again in Australia.
What do you think? Answer below!
Posti has 30 kg limit in the packages.
Courier companies like UPS, TNT, Fedex and DHL operate in Finland as well. Give them a call or try online freight calculator. UPS Super saver may be more affordable in your case. Roughly you may get the whole 100 kg to Australia with 500 €. Bigger packages cost more as the cost is calculated by volume weight.
I moved from Western Australia to Helsinki 5 years ago and by far the cheapest way to move stuff is though unaccompanied baggage.
You will have to take it all boxed up to Finair Cargo at Vantaa with your passport and ticket.
Its not cheap , but a whole lot cheaper than Posti.
If I remember correctly I brought 6 or 8 big moving boxes each weighting about 30kg.
I think it was about 400 or 500E for everything., but this price (just like airline tickets) will be higher from here because of our flight origin location.
On a side point , I would NEVER move to Sydney..UGG.
I only know about Fedex which we usually use sending packages to our relatives. You could also try UPS I think they have a much cheaper price.
