@johnuesi ……..don’t know if you know?…but that figure is 5 million now!

Personally, the Australian government should take complete control, make it great tourist destination.
Large resort tower developments, up market gold courses, even an aquatic zoo, the ideas are endless.

That island needs new blood, because the people that live there are lacking many qualities and skills.

@MRMILO57 they want 3 million. Sydney spends more on fireworks every year.

Norfolk island’s government and its people don’t want the modern world, but they want modern money!

Well lifes not that simple, there’s a price you pay to receive Australian tax payers money!

Hi MM – thanks for clearing that up.
All: Please note MM’s comment replaces my comment from 2 years ago.
Kieron & NorfolkIslandGT: glad you enjoyed your holidays to Norfolk. By the way, Lord Howe (fairly close proximity to Norfolk) is also fantastic :)

@catherineduc NI is classed as an External Territory OF (ie, under) the Commonwealth of Australia. As you are no doubt fully aware, the Island enjoys its own govt powers, but these are restricted to matters relating to the good governance of the Island itself, to suggest it is external “to” the wider Commonwealth is wrong.

Hi, very nice video – I just visited Norfolk Island the week before last. I recognise all the places :) Check out my Norfolk Island video too if you’d like.

Norfolk Island is a territory external to Australia (not of) by the way.

Norfolk Islanders have a clause in their constitution which allows them to switch to British rule whenever they please.

  12. fijifive Jan 28th 2011

Norfolk Island is not under British rule anymore! It’s a semi-autonamous territory of Australia. They use the Australian dollar, not the pound.

  13. logom0 Jan 28th 2011

yeah probably but any way the british have rule over so many islands it is confusing.

  14. logom0 Jan 28th 2011
