Vanuatu is a great place to have a holiday. The people are amongst the most friendly on Earth. I was there last month and spent 7 great days at Le Lagon near Port Vila. The snorkeling near Hideaway Island is tops and make sure that you do the around the island tour of Efate island where you will most likely be staying. One thing to remember however is that the rainy season is from December through April.

Vanuatu is an amazing place. I’ve been there twice, once for ten days and once for three weeks. The first time I stayed at Le Lagon, the resort the other answerer mentioned, and it was simply amazing. The second time I stayed with some different remote villages on some of the islands of Vanuatu, which was a fantastic experience.
They don’t really live around the main reefs, because scuba-divers go out and collect them, as they destroy the reef. So you’re unlikely to see one anyway
I hope i’ve helped your decision! I highly, hughly recommend Vanuatu for your holiday
The people are incredibly friendly. Everyone smiles and says hello as you walk past. If you ever have a problem, all you have to do is ask and someone will help you out.
The swimming is awesome, I went in September and the water was so warm in the ocean even in the morning, we swam all day. The snorkeling is gorgeous, I recommend Hat Island, Pele Island and Lelepa Island- but anywhere you go, I’m sure will be fantastic too! You can swim at pretty much any beach, but they’re not surfing beaches- the waves are rarely big enough, and they’re coral beaches, not sand. You find lots of baby hermit crab friends on the beach though, they’re cute (and don’t bite!)
The food, OMG! The fish is fresh (of course), all kinds of seafood is available, the chicken is amazing, but the best is the beef. The volcanic ash in the soil makes the ground really fertile, so the animals are really helthy, and the meat is juicy and tender. All kinds of fruits are available too- buy some mangoes and raspberries from the Port Vila markets! The only bad thing I can say about the food is that you may get sick of pawpaw and bananas- they’re everywhere, haha! But yes, the food is all lovely, and cheap (especially from the markets!) and mostly organic, although they don’t tell you this because it’s just normal for them. The ground is so fertile they don’t need it- we saw wooden fenceposts growing into the trees they were cut from as we were driving around!
Transport is another thing- most people get around by walking, or minibus. These are 12-seater buses that drive around everywhere, they take you across the island for 300 Vatu (sometimes a little more, but no more than 500), which equates to $4-6 Aus. They’re safe, and the drivers are always friendly. Don’t bother getting a taxi- they charge way more- at least 2000 Vatu ($24Aus) and up to 5000Vatu ($60Aus), and are no better than a bus.
In the way of having fun, swimming and snorkelling keep you entertained for hours! Most resorts have tv and internet, but honestly, we never really used the internet or watched TV, there was so much more to do! There are tours of the islands, fishing, scuba lessons, boating, catamarans and kayaks, local arts & crafts, and the local bands are always playing wherever you go.
One thing I will mention- when you go into town, be aware that it’s frowned upon for ladies to show too much skin. Thighs, breasts, tummies and shoulders should be covered. At resorts a bikini or little dress is fine, but a t-shirt and shorts is better for walking around town or going to the islands. It’s not strict or anything, but it’s just polite.
It’s pretty hot and can get humid in the wet season (coming up), but nothing a dip in the pool or the ocean can’t fix!
You don’t need to worry about snakes or spiders- there are only a couple of species of each, and it’s very rare to find a poisonous one. Sea snakes- there’s one poisonous species, with black and white stripes, but they’re not aggressive, and their mouths are so small they can only bite you in the webbing between your fingers and toes. So theyre not much of a worry! There’s also a mildly venemous breed of starfish- the crown of thorns. They’re scary-looking things, so you wouldn’t want to touch them anyway- but if you do accidentally, make sure the stinger is out and disinfect it with some betadine. You’ll be set
Oh, this is a very long answer
