Is there anyway he can stay without having to leave for 2 + Months?
Question by Kay: Is there anyway he can stay without having to leave for 2 + Months?
Hi there,
My boyfriend came over from New Zealand (to the UK) on a two year working holiday. It will finish in June-ish 2010. He told me he will need to go back to New Zealand for a couple of months to get his next visa – allowing him to stay in the UK permanently.
I’m pregnant. We’re happy about this but he is also upset that he’ll have to leave us for a couple of months to get his permanent stay visa.
Anyway he can get this without leaving the UK, going back to NZ, then coming back to the UK again?

Check UK and New Zealand immigration websites.
From what you wrote, he still has way over a year to go on this working holiday! What kind of a visa does he have right now? If it is good until 2010, I don’t see why he can’t start getting a permanent visa right now, if he intends to stay in the UK! That’s a long way and expensive, to go, just to get a visa! If you are British, and the baby coming, the logical thing, that is, if he really loves you, is to get married!! That might make a difference when he applies for a permanent visa! I don’t want to put a cloud over your relationship, but make quite sure HE really wants to settle in England. I am sure he has relatives in NZ. Talk this over with the NZ Consulate before making any plans.
