Is 11 days too long tp spend with the in-laws?
Question by Kels_Bells: Is 11 days too long tp spend with the in-laws?
My husband always makes me spend lengthy periods wit his family. I pretty much use up all my leave visiting them. They live in New Zealand we live in Australia but it is a cheap 3 hour flight so we see them A LOT. This Christmas he wants me to spend 11 days at their holiday house (no shops or restaurants around) and I think it is too much. He thinks it is perfectly reasonable. We go every Christmas break and at least a couple of times throughout the year (already have 2 more trips booked for 2010 not counting Xmas). I can’t imagine that anyone else has to spend this much time with the in-laws am I wrong?

It all depends. Are there plenty of things to go? Do you enjoy your inlaws? Does everyone have a good time? Do you feel bored there? Spending time with family is important. Have you considered asking the inlaws if they mind you staying so long? Could you switch off and have the inlaws visit you every other year? Are you resenting this? Make your feelings clear to your husband,. What about your parents? Don’t make this into a huge marriage issue- it sounds like it is heading that way.
