How many months can you stay with one employer on a 12 month New Zealand working holiday visa?

Question by Dan: How many months can you stay with one employer on a 12 month New Zealand working holiday visa?
There seems to be a widely held belief that you can only work for each employer for 3 months maximum. There is no mention of this condition on the NZ government website, nor on the actual work permit. This “rule” can only be found on a few random non-government visa websites, which could easily be wrong. Do you know the answer?

Whether there is any limit on how long you can work for each employer depends on your passport country. Several schemes have a 3 month limit (e.g. China, Argentina, Brazil, Chile and others) and that’s how the widely held belief would have arisen.

If doesn’t mention a limit under the information for your country’s scheme (e.g. Canada, Belgium, UK, USA and others), there is no specific limit though you are not allowed to take up ‘permanent employment’.
