Air New Zealand can connect Boise, Idaho, with their flights to New Zealand departing via San Francisco or Los Angeles using United Airlines. You book the entire flight (including UA connection) through the Air New Zealand website.
San Francisco to Auckland (NZ) takes 13 hours (Los Angeles is only slightly faster). Boise to San Francisco takes 1 hour 47 mins. Boise to Los Angeles takes 2 hours 15 mins.
The entire flight, including connection from Boise, will cost in the area of 2000-2500 US dollars (including taxes and fuel levies). You could probably get better pricing by shopping around.
Have a look at Expedia or Travelocity for some options. Flying in March, assuming you only want to stay a couple of months, it will cost about $1,200 US to $1,400 including taxes.
You can fly from LA (one more airline than San Francisco) with:
Qantas
Air NZ
Air Pacific
United (which is really an Air NZ plane under a code share)
American (which will really be a Qantas plane under a code share)
Flight duration from LA is about 13 hours. If you are transiting in LA from another USA airport, e.g. your local city in Idaho, then you will need to allow about 2 hours in LAX (or more) to clear security and immigration. Add on the cost and duration of your flight to LA as well.
Flying with Air Pacific or Air NZ also gives you the option of a stop-off en route to NZ, in Hawaii, Apia (Samoa), the Cook Islands or Fiji, depending on the time of year you travel, which day of the week, etc.
Prices will increase the closer you are to holidays (Christmas, Easter, in particular) and will decrease at low demand periods, such as February, November, May, June, July, August.
Don’t forget that it’s winter in NZ in the period from May to September.
If you were to get a direct flight from Boise to Auckland it would be approx. 15 Hrs 15 Min. You can get flight times for airports all over the world at https://www.jets.com/
