Holiday in South Africa?
Question by *Kozzie*: Holiday in South Africa?
Hey. In September my family and I are heading to SA for 3 weeks. We are flying into Joburg, staying there a night. Driving to Kruger, styaing there a few nights. Then driving down to Durban. Staying with friends. Driving down the coast through Port Elezibeth all the way over to Capetown and flying out of Capetown.
What is there to see and do on the way? I’m 16 by the way. Also how safe is it? Are there certain roads to avoid because of car jackings?
We recently returned from a holiday in New Zealand. We drove at night, stopped in at random towns at motels and that. I’m guessing it’s not that safe in SA.
What do we do? Is it worth the visit?
Thanks in advance

What do you think? Answer below!
no it is not worth the visit….go to Botswana instead, Botswana is a much safer country and at least they have a foreign policy that opposes events that have occured in Zimbabwe over the last decade
South Africa is a beautiful place but crime is a problem and in particular to tourists.
Criminals look out for tourists in hired cars , flashing cameras , strange accents and target them.
When driving stay on the main roads unless you are accompanied by more than one other car. Plan your trip before hand and know where you are going and where you are going to stay. Make sure the area is safe and your car can be safely locked away at night.
There are so many sites to see and so much to do , particularly in the cities and once you get to the Cape. Information and tourist bureaus in the towns will be able to assist.
hi
great choice to south africa
in Cape Town you could go to
-Canel Walk (the biggest mall in africa)
-Robbin Island (preat place for learning about the history)
-Ratanga Junction (Perfect if you like roller coaster and plenty of fun)
-Go to the beach (great for taning)
But you have been here before comparing SA crime with NZ crime.
What answer to want from us so we can give it to you.
Anyway I wish I could go on a trip like that and why would you want to travel at night you will miss most of the good parts of the trip.
If you are looking for excuses not to come then don’t come.
You are going to be miserable if you don’t feel like coming.
