Holiday advice really needed – 4 adults – two with health problems – not sure where to go?
Question by Me: Holiday advice really needed – 4 adults – two with health problems – not sure where to go?
I am paying for my family to go away somewhere in late April/early May for 10 days to 2 weeks.
My brother 30 odd year old brother had to have a hip operation last November 2010, and is still walking with a crutch and my elder sister has Systemic Lupus. Me and my mother are fine so it had to be a country that we could all enjoy without fear of getting ill, political uprisings, etc.
Desired:
Lovely weather
White sand beaches
A country which is not too hilly
Full board accommodation or all inclusive (my mother’s desire)
I had thought about the following countries but there are also disadvantages:
Cyprus: too hilly – if my brother and sister want to go for a short walk somewhere this might be difficult
Gambia – Malaria risk (though this would have been ideal otherwise)
Florida (Fine – but no all inclusive deals for this sort of destination)
Canary Islands (Weather may not be too great in April/May and the beaches do not seem to be as nice as those further afield -e.g Caribbean, Indian ocean etc)
Mauritius (I went there before and it is beautiful but hours and hours away. Also my son and I had a really bad time with the mossies despite taking spray)
Dominican Republic (Hotels that say they are 4 and 5 star when you look on hotel review sites are more like 2 and 3 star. Also seem to be problems with food poisoning in some locations – not good for my sis) – also we’ve all been to the Caribbean before – Antigua and Cuba.
Turkey, Morocco, Egypt, Dubai (My family do not want to go to the first three due to present or impending political instability in those countries and Dubai does not appeal)
France, Mainland Spain, Greece, Central Europe, Portugal and Italy (too near – we want this to be a holiday in a lifetime and it will probably be the last we take together)
Australia and New Zealand (Too far away for my sister to travel to)
Fiji (Too far and realllllly expensive!)
Goa (Cannot seem to find any holidays to this area for April or May and they only seem to do Bed and breakfast during other months)
South Africa (potentially dangerous – so my mother would not entertain it)
Canada (too cold in April/May)
Cuba (a possibility but I went there before and it was a bit of a disappointment)
I really have run out of possible destinations to look at… any ideas (outside of Europe)?

You are right about FL not having all inclusive deals- but Disneyworld does have package deals. You could combine that with a rental car and drive east over to the Space Coast (Cape Canaveral tour) and to St. Augustine or down to the Everglades.
What about a cruise? It’s all inclusive and those that were well enough to take day tours of ports could go.

Well the best place to choose where there is no political things happening ever is DUBAI! its the best place for visit and best place to live in the world ! It has the best night life too. The city is live you will always be laughing and having fun! The weather is very good at that time. you can go to the beach with the perfect weather, u can ski, u can go shopping u can do anything u want for each of u. There are great transportation’s such as taxis, metro, and bus. you can also rent a car. Well Canada is a good place to visit too! Canada specially Vancouver is not cold at that time it tends to get very hot, but just to be honest with u if ur looking for nature beauty go to canada, if u wanna have the best time of ur life and see the worlds tallest building, worlds biggest mall, worlds 7 star hotel on the sea, etc and see all those magnificent structures and want to use the beach go to dubai!
I hope u do choose dubai and have a great time!
If u needed any information about dubai or at some point canada plz do ask me,
Good luck
If the health problems are an issue for you stick to a country within the EU and make sure that you have adequate health insurance cover OR at the very lease an EHIC card – http://www.tumbit.com/how-to-guides/articles/131-the-ehic-card-explained.html
