Yes of course you do. You need a passport to travel anywhere outside the UK Common Travel Area.

    Yes, a British passport is required for all international travel

    The Commonwealth is a friendly association of countries that may have/had the Queen as head of state but it is not like the EU, there is no economic or political union or freedom of movment & there is certainly nothing like the Schengen Agreement in place between the Commonwealth countries

    of course they do the brits are europeans whether they like it or not and the time of the British Empire is gone ended in 1999 with the last outpost (HK) ceded back to China.
