can UK residents book flights to australia via an australian travel company?

Question by dappycow36: can UK residents book flights to australia via an australian travel company?
Hi

We are british citizens wishing to travel to australia in Feb 09 for a month. We have found cheap flights online via an australian based travel company, are we allowed to do this and will we be paying the same or will we have a different price due to differing country taxes perhaps? If anyone knows or has any experience of this please let us know.

Thank you

Zara

yes you can. the taxes would be the same. the only difference would be you paying in australian dollars (might be cheaper or might not)..

    Yes my friend you can!
The taxes will remain the same however the difference in price maybe due to a difference in strength of currency, whatever it is at the time of booking, so make sure if you’re booking from an australian currency that you wont be losing money due to the exchange rate!
Also on your bill from debit/credit card, and bank statements, it will state the money withdrawn in Australian dollars, however more than likely this will also be converted to sterling just below. If unsure or you have any reservations, check the company you’re booking with by phone or online, and also contact your bank as well as associates and those who have travelled to australia.
Another thing you should note is the collapsing of many airline companies, the most notorious XL, the fourth largest airline company in the world. As flights to australia are so expensive make sure that you check out the airline’s finances, or it maybe 1,000 pound down the drain, which would be a terrible loss to yourself.

Anyways, I hope this advice helps, and no matter what you decide to do I hope you have a great time :)
