Can my neighbours sue if i go in their pool without permission?
Question by : Can my neighbours sue if i go in their pool without permission?
I am 17 and I overheard my neighbours talking to my parents and they said they were going on holiday to fiji for 2 weeks. And me and my boyfriend have wanted to go skinny dipping together for a longtime, but we have been unable to do so in public pools so this is our big chance to go skinny dipping. But i was just worried in case someone saw us and told the neighbours when they got back. Could the neighbours sue?

you may be able to be charged for trespassing by the police, but not sure they could sue you?
If there is no actual damage to the pool, they can’t sue you for damages. They could have charges pressed for trespassing.
Mostly it is all because they have to pay for insurance on their house, and a pool greatly increases that, because if someone trespasses or even has permission and gets injured or drowns in the pool, they are held liable, which the insurance is responsible for.
Enjoy your life. They will not sue if you know they are nice people and they are already your neighbour so the will not sue.
No … worse thing that could happen is you get told to leave … it is trespassing but no cop in his right mind is going to run a bunch of well off sounding kids to the pokey … or even bother ticketing you for trespassing over sneaking into a neighbors pool.
Oddly enough … if one of you were to fall and hurt yourself on your neighbors property … even though you’re trespassing you could probably sue them. They didnt have locks on the gate, they didnt have no trespassing or no running signs etc.
Ahhhh american land of the utterly ridiculous.
Go for it, no harm shall befall ye … well unless some nosy neighbor video tapes you and your bf having pool sex and puts it online … then your dad finds it … ummm well ummm, still think no harm shall befall ye … venture forth !
There shall be a full moon out … when your neighbors go on vacation .. ummm in fact at least 2 full moons out that night me thinks !!!
Do not listen to jim !!! This type of thing, is exactly why he shall die a virgin ! lol, messing around, but it could be theft of what jim ? Water from the pool ?
You can get in trouble for this. That’s why it’s called skinny dipping. So make up your mind. Are you going to play it safe and stay out of trouble. Or are you going to through caution to the wind.
You can get in trouble for trespassing, breaking and entering, and possibly theft. But i’d be more concerned about what dad has to say about his little girl getting caught skinny dipping.
Why don’t you just ASK the neighbors if you can use the pool, and maybe keep it clean for them! Why sneak around and maybe get into trouble!? It’s ok the go skinny dipping, I’ve done it myself, but keep the noise down, and don’t do it in day light!
you’re not trespassing unless you do not leave immediately after someone tells you so….however, in minnesota stealing someones garden flowers or vegetable is considered trespassing….if the fence surrounding the pool is unlocked (yes unlocked)…it might be considered breaking and entering….
