Byron Bay, Australia Travel Video Guide
Travel Videos – Australia : Byron Bay (pop. 6130) It seems every backpacker must make the pilgrimage to Byron Bay. Once the centre for peace, love and alternative lifestyles, now home of a growing number of baby boomer ‘seachangers’ from capital cities down south. With this new mix, Byron is evolving, (and the real estate prices are going through the roof). Arrived in Byron Sunday night. Byron attracts creative types and also has a huge collection of practitioners of alternative health therapies. To try and capture this I am interviewing John Dahlsen an artist. John makes a daily trip to the beach where he collects plastic waste washed up the night before. From this waste he creates art pieces. I found his art to be like a double edged sword, I was both astounded by the beauty of his art, and repelled by the thought it was all collected from our beaches.
@JOONGSEIS Keep your opinions to yourself
@JOONGSEIS your a dick head.
it was good in the 70s and 80s, i know that much. Now? meh. Its always been apparent that it would be turned into another sydneyfied place. To me it feels more and more like the places we left in the first place.
if you wan’t to visit a town like Byron Bay that isn’t swarming with tourists, just somewhere peaceful go to ocean shores, its only about 40 minutes south of Gold Coast
dont’ come to Australia we don’t want you here. Byron Bay is too crowded now with all the Scandi’s, Kiwis, Itys, Poms, Frogs, Krauts and Yanks
So stay at home and don’t visit australia we don’t want you in our country
PARKWAY DRIVE
I’d hate to be islam, not with those terrorists and all.
grow up kook
get your countries right you fool
i wouldn’t be too proud being australian. not with that josef fritzl guy and all.
1:34′s kinda creepy on the topless tanners but, good little video! One of the nicest places I’ve heard to visit on the coast
Couldn’t agree more. Your videos have a great style, Mark. But where do you find all the interviewees? You seem to get the most intersting people!
Thanks BigVolcanonet
Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt, that is half the fun
So much better meeting a local than some celebrity host telling you what to buy
Overlander, you always find great locals to get interviews with. And the videos offer more than the usual ‘travel video” feel.
Step 1:Hold your breath
Step 2:go to another video
Step 3: add this comment
Step 4:did you make it? if you did it, you are a good kisser
Yup
still holding it right now……( im dead)
I’ve lived byron bay all my life and it’s now seriously losing it’s peaceful atmosphere because of the huge amount of traffic and renovation that’s been going on. Right now they’re building a HUGE backpackers right in the middle of town, and it’s hideous. If you want to get to town from the west side of byron, there’s only one road, and due to constant traffic, takes atleast half an hour to get there, just so you can buy your groceries!

How lovely and gentle
yea…I lived there for 10 yrs and theres a good side and a very dark side to this fantastic area…..its like a modern town with its overpopulated streets amd theres no rules apart from trying to do whats best for you! Which means its very hedonistic….not a place to raise children, but others would beg to differ
miss byron bay too. I was there about 10 years ago fo about 3 months. Im from Holland, I stil dream about it few times a month! so relaxed
