Entry from: Leura, Australia Entry Title: “Blue Mountains” Entry: “Joe Says: Over a year in Sydney and only our first trip to the blue mountains which is only 2 hours outside sydney. I have used up all my holidays and more goin home in June so only able to go for the weekend but it was savage, much better than I expected. I mean the ozzies were saying it was good but listen they dont really have many natural wonders so my expectation were quite low. Arrived up on the Friday night at bout 8 and even though was recked was still a bit excited to be doing a small bit of traveling again and seeing new things. Didnt realise how much I actually missed traveling till then. We had booked a little cottage in Leura with a log fire and it was really nice. Saturday was our first real sightseeing day so we went to see the three sisters. The views were nice but not amazing and this place is a bit of a tourist trap. We decided to go and look at some other areas recomended in lonely planet. We hit off and after about 10 mins we ran out of paved road but thought nothing off it but after another 10mins and no sign of any sign posts for the lookout we were searching for I began to doubt catriona navigation skills (not good at the best of times) We stayed going for about 20 mins and eventually came to the end of the …

Entry from: Sydney, Australia Entry Title: “First month Down Under” Entry: “My trip to Australia took me on quite a satisfying flight from Hong Kong into Sydney, with nice red wine and, a new experience for me, an entertainment system that I could pause, rewind etc and therefore choose what I wanted to watch and when. 8 and a half hours later I arrived in Sydney and got the airport shuttle bus to my hostel for the night, Base Backpackers. The shuttle bus is great, it’s and they drop you off at the door of your hotel. The hostel was quite an irritation, at 10pm I just really wanted a bed, but I had to visit 3 different dorm rooms before I found one with an empty bed and clean sheets, since I’d booked I wasn’t best pleased. I finally ended up with a 6 bed room to myself, until 4 crazy Irish girls turned up a bit later. They came in from a night out at 5am, one at a time, making a racket, with me having to get up and let the first one in. Then at 8am I was woken up by one of them sobbing, having some kind of panic attack, saying that she woke up not knowing where she was with someone’s shoes on top of her. I didn’t tell them, but it seems to have been my trainers that caused the trauma since they weren’t where I had left them and the socks that had been tucked inside were all over the floor. How they …
