1. It’s winter time but not crazy cold. You might need a sweater.
2. On the gold coast sports can be played anytime including winter.
3. There is an end of semester break around this time. No national holidays that I recall.
4. Yes, but Southport is some distance from the beach compared with other Gold Coast suburbs.
5. It’s like basketball and it’s really popular with the ladies in Oz.

Southport is fabulous . I live right next door I can walk to southport in 20 minutes. It is situated on The Broadwater which is a large expanse of sheltered water where the boats come into to moore and many water sports ie jet skiing goes on there. You are close to main Beach and about 2 or 3 kilometres from Surfers paradise. yes you can surf all year around. Net ball many years ago was called 9 aside basket ball but the rules where changed and now there is 7 in the team. You cannot run up the court bouncing the ball . It really is known as a womans sport although occasionaally men get a team together. You will get some cool nights but that time of year very little rain if any and the days are usually sunny. People still swim in the sea but i’m not that brave. So a wet suit for surfing is really needed then. Many different sports are played here. it is the rugby season .

  3. I live just up the road.

    1) Southport is on the Gold Coast. The weather is excellent. It may be chilli at night but during the day expect it to be warm and sunny. (Australian cold is not even cold (we’re just spoilt))

    2) We a sport mad nation. All sports…..

    3) Queens birthday is 9th of June, so you will miss it but Southport is just next to “Surfers Paradise”. Surfers is a huge party town so if you’re looking for a celebration you won’t have to look far!

    4) Lol. You’re coming to the most beautiful beaches on the planet. Lol. Of course there’s surfing. All year round baby!

    5) Netball is like basketball but no running. Just passing, no bouncing etc. It will look crazy the first time you see it. Lol.

Anyways, YOU’RE coming to QUEENSLAND “SURFERS PARADISE” so you better get a fake tan and bring plenty of beach sun and fun clothes!!

Just minutes from Southport is “Wet and Wild”, “White Water World”, “Dreamworld”, “Movie World” and “Sea World”. You guessed it…THEME PARKS!!! (google them ie. wet and wild queensland etc etc)

I hope you have fun and you get a good family to stay with!

    Izi ;-)
