Question by Alex N: Are Registered Post packages sent within Australia checked?
Hi There, not looking to send anything illegal haha,
just wondering if say my friend sent a package from queensland to hobart would it be checked anywhere along the way? or is that only for packages coming from international locations.

correct – only international packages have a higher chance of being opened. A couple of things i’ve bought off ebay (USA/China) have been checked.
registered within australia – you shouldnt have a problem.

It is my understanding that all packages passing through Australia Post go through some degree of scanning. They would have to, otherwise you’d have loopy-loops sending drugs and other explosive elements via mail.
That is another reason why they get a signature off the sender of any package saying there is nothing illegal or dangerous in the package. This makes me cringe/smile. I mean, once something is blown to smithereens, I doubt the signature would be a help so it must be recorded somewhere.
