Another question about Working Holidays in Australia?

Question by failmoar: Another question about Working Holidays in Australia?
I read somewhere, that coming from US to AU, they don’t really check the whole financial thing. When I intend to go to Australia for a working holiday, i’m going to have some money, i’m just curious if there is anyway I could go without having the full ,000 AUD.
Well, say I had maybe ,000AUD – my real question is this: Is ,000 like hard set? Or will they let you in with less.

Nope, they check, don’t risk it. How bad would it be to be sent back on the next flight?!

  1. No, they check. I have an American friend who was given the third degree by immigration when she arrived a couple of years ago. Because she was visiting her boyfriend who was a student in Melbourne for two weeks she didn’t expect any problems and was quite surprised and upset.

They don’t check everyone, but they do check a fairly large % of people and if you’re one of them and you don’t have the funds plus a return ticket (or funds over the $5000 to buy one), they won’t let you into the country. Don’t risk it!
