A Cheap Holiday in Other People’s Misery

Another brand new PIF for the summer 2007 nagging season. It’s about travel insurance and is one of the more forbidding fillers in recent times – not graphic but atmospheric, with the visual sense of David Fincher and the tone of Bergman. If this filler is to be believed, if you do not get travel insurance before you go, you may very well find yourself still trapped in a leaking hospital in El Desesperación, regarding your gaunt, resigned features in one of the many indoor mud puddles, and seriously contemplating slashing open your forearms to lighten the mood a bit.

How on earth will health insurance improve all of that ?

the cost of treatment is so low in the developing nations compared to the developed – you’d get better access or the same with or without insurance.

if the ad shows rat infested hospitals – its scaremongering. how can an insurance give better access – if there’ no better hospital in that area / do they mean the US marines would lift the patient from that area if they had an insurance ?
