(The tour operator is Geckos Peregrine Holidays from Australia. However, our experience with them would turn out to be horrible as you will find out in the blog entries to come). I would recommend avoiding this terrible tour operator. To fly to Kathmandu, travellers must make flight transit at Bangkok. I also needed to get Vivotif, the vaccine for Typoid which was out of supply in Hong Kong. I have heard many good things about health services in Thailand so what better way than to see it for myself. I decided to stay in Bangkok for a few days prior to Kathmandu. From the Bangkok International airport I needed to get to the infamous Backpackers Ghetto area known as Kao San Road. There were three options: Taxi, airport shuttle or Train/Bus. The most economical is the train/bus combo costing only a total of 16 Baht (1 CDN = 33 Baht). To do this, cross the road via the pedestrian bridge to the other side of the highway and take the next train towards Hualamphong Station in Bangkok (There are no trains between 11am and 4pm).
