2010 Holiday Plan for a Tour of Australia
Firstly; Best to watch in HD and full screen so you can read the map. Times are tough! Global recession, jobs losses, share market collapse. In times like these, those lucky enough to have jobs are keeping their heads down and consolidating their positions at work. So what are the Queensland branch of the Yowie’s doing? … going on an extended holiday! Yah We have been talking / joking / dreaming about taking the whole of the 2010 year off for some time and although there is still a lot of planning and preparation work to be done (not to mention access permits to obtain) it looks like it’s really going to happen.
As stated above, it’s early days still but we have come up with a draft plan / itinerary with a roughly worked out route with broad dates .. mostly just setting aside a calendar month to explore a state or region. As you can see we are planning a few loops of Australia to try and be in particular regions in their best weather periods. eg Northern areas in the “dry season” I have posted this video for a few reasons; 1./ to try and make you all feel jealous about our planned travels. 2./ to put the seed of thought in your head to see if anyone would like to meet up somewhere in this large brown land and join us for a part of our adventure. If anyone is keen on joining us please bare in mind that a large portion of our trip will be off the bitumen and in many cases extremely harsh 4wd territory such as Canning Stock Route, Gunbarrel highway, Anne Beaddell …

Sydney has a metropolitan area population of approximately 4.4 million[5] and an area of approximately 12000 square kilometres (4633 sq mi). Its inhabitants are called Sydneysiders, and Sydney is often called “the Harbour City”. It is one of the most multicultural cities in the world, reflecting its role as a major destination for immigrants to Australia.[6] The site of the first British colony in Australia, Sydney was established[7] in 1788 at Sydney Cove by Arthur Phillip, commodore of the First Fleet. The city is built on hills surrounding Sydney Harbour an inlet of the Tasman Sea on Australia’s south-east coast. It is home to the iconic Sydney Opera House, the Harbour Bridge and its beaches. The metropolitan area is surrounded by national parks, and contains many bays, rivers and inlets. The city is home to many prominent parks, such as Hyde Park, Royal Botanical Gardens and national parks. This is a major factor, along with Sydney Harbour that has led to the citys reputation as one of the most beautiful in the world.[8] Sydney is considered an alpha+ world city,[9] as listed by the Loughborough University group’s 2008 inventory[10], is ranked 16th among global cities by Foreign Policy’s 2008 Global Cities Index[11] and is an international centre for commerce, arts, fashion, culture …

EQUIPnTRIP
The same troopie running 6.5 V8 diesel, auto, coil spring conversion, and other assorted $1000′s of wasted money sunk into it that should have been retired 100.000 km ago lol
That trip is insane. Good luck tho. would be awesome. What car are you going to punish on this trip? Cheers.
Sure! Actually we will probably require another vehicle to join us in some sections. We have found in the past that for some of the harsher tracks to get a access permit they insist on at least 2 vehicles in case one has problems. As for the map “thingo”. It was time consuming, as is all things video making. I’m a draftsman so I know my way around AutoCAD. I made several still shots with and without text and coloured route lines over an image map file. You could do the same in any software.
Can i come brother? hahahaha hey how did you do the map thingo?
The plan is starting to come together but don’t know how we are going to pay for it yet lol
A large portion of the trip will be on tough outback 4×4 tracks
AWESOME!!!! My wife and I will get the oppurtunity to travel around Australia one day!! First thing first though……buying our home (second marriage)
what a great travel plan! Hope to catch up in canberra! Keep contact!
Ok.This might seem a little (cliché) but why dont you apply the “ive been everywhere man” song??
I am not in Sydney so I didn’t know. Should I change the music? I was going to use Avalon by Juliet until I listened to the lyrics and it basically was about taking a holiday away from the relationship. I sill like the song though!
Thanks for you always kind and encouraging comments miss i♥slug
Have you decided yet on which leg you will fly from USA to join us? lol
2ue sydney uses this song as a jingle for stanky!
HOLY COW! That is so exciting! Congrats on your travel plans. You’re going to have such an awesome time. Hugs!
No money for new Troopy but she will be retired at the end of this huge trip.
Still plenty of time left but start putting some thought into what you would like to see and when and we see if we can work something out to suit everyone buddy
Did we not plan a trip something like this in 1969? lol
Awesome! love to catch up
Unbelievable MrYowie, I hope in your travel budget covers the cost of a new 4WD. We will catch up with you either September or October for a week or two on the WA leg.
