Long Island is in New York…and it’s cold and not the best vacation spot! I would suggest:
    Panama Beach, Florida
    Virginia Beach, Virginia
    Chicago, Illinois
    Springfield, Illinois
    Orlando, Florida
    Coa Coa Beach, Florida

    any of these are great!

Sunsets anywhere on the U.S. East Coast (including Long Island) isn’t anything spectacular.

That’s because the sun sets to the west– Over land. You will just see the sun drop below the trees or buildings to the west when it sets, and it will look the same all over Long Island.

What Long Island is known for is the sunrise. You see the sun rise up over the Atlantic Ocean when you are on the beaches at Robert Moses or Fire Island.

= – Don’t get lost amidst the local lingo, if you take a little time to familiarize yourself with Long Island’s geographic colloquialisms, you’ll translate less and travel more. For starters, just as New Yorkers call New York City, “the city,” they call Long Island, “the island.” Greenland may be almost 600 times bigger, but this is “The Island.”

-Old Westbury Gardens: Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, if you have yet to visit this place for a wedding, party or event, this season is the best time to go.
