Obviously Christmas is tops, but where to St. Patrick’s, Valentines, Halloween and the others rank?

Best answer:

Answer by Platinum
Obviously, it depends on the business
The best time for chocolate is 14Feb and Easter
The best time for flowers is 14Feb and Mothers day
The best time for beer is each and every summer sunny day
The best time for Gillette is Fathers day
etc.
If you want to know the exact amount of $ spent on each day you can check in search engines with something like fathers day + consumer spend

Actually, some of the best retail “holidays” really don’t have a holiday per se. For instance, one of the biggest retail ops is the “back to school” season that happens in August/September.

Top “true” holidays included Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, which are big for different retailers, like flowers/jewelry vs. tech (if dad’s lucky). You already mentioned Valentine’s Day, which is huge for both gifts and services, i.e. restaurants, movie theaters, etc. Thanksgiving, or Black Friday, is BY FAR the most dynamic shopping day of the year and lots of retailers base their success for the year on this.

Sometimes, seasons play a bigger role than holidays. Spring is huge for certain retailers, like Home Depot, who sell home renovation-related items.

As for St. Patty’s Day and Halloween, unless you’re Irish or a Wicca, chances are you’re not spending fat bags of cash on anything.

So to recap, the top holidays are Thanksgiving, Christmas, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and Valentine’s Day. Top seasons are Spring and Fall.

Any other holiday, like President’s Day or the Fourth of July, are just opportunities for retailers to have a “theme” sale, which they could’ve actually have held at any time.

    Hope that helps!
