What are the entry requirements for the USA from Uk?

Question by Lee S: What are the entry requirements for the USA from Uk?
I live in the UK, I have booked a holiday in may 2009 to go to florida. In may 2004 I was convicted of section 29 common assault for over self defense, I had to pay thirty pounds compensation and serve fourty hours community service. Will I be denied entry to the country because of this ?

you probably will be refused entry.
on the flight you will fill in a visa waiver form which will ask you about any convictions, upon landing the immigration will check the form and then decide.

they may or may not let you in, i should think they will decline, you can always ask a travel operator

You would need to apply for a visa. Since you were arrested and convicted you can not travel under the Visa Waiver Program. For more info, go here: http://www.usembassy.org.uk/cons_new/visa/niv/add_crime.html
