Q&A: Would it be better for me to buy a laptop in Canada or New Zealand as I’m going to Canada soon for holiday?
Question by Marco Tyler-Rodrigue: Would it be better for me to buy a laptop in Canada or New Zealand as I’m going to Canada soon for holiday?
I’m just going for holiday so I will be coming back to New Zealand in a months time. I need a new laptop but I don’t know whether it would be cheaper to buy a laptop here in New Zealand or one in Canada? I’ll probably be spending around 00 NZ dollars so would I be losing money by buying one in Canada?

No, laptops are shipped to New Zealand so their prices there will be naturally higher.
Canada also does not manufacture them & the prices will be on the higher considering transport surcharges & taxes.

One thought for you, if you buy a laptop in Canada will the warranty be valid in New Zealand.
This may resolve your question. For if anything goes wrong you need the peace of mind of a good warranty.
Enjoy your trip!
I just checked on http://www.chartfactors.org. I see that the Canadian has fallen nine US cents against the New Zeland since March 17. It’s going in your favor. The current rate is .794C for one NZ. You might check out some Canadian stores, friends, etc. and find out what you are going to get for your Canadian Dollars before you do anything. The question of which currency has more purchasing power goes un answered. I do not know what the taxes are in Canada and I do not know if the merchantdise values are compareable.
