Has anyone ever been to the Dominican Republic?
I’m going in august and would just like to know about other peoples holidays! Do you advise any trips? What did you enjoy the most etc?
What temperature is it?

LOVED IT THERE! I went there on my Honeymoon back in November. I was there for 7 days and not a cloud in the sky. It was hot though….hotter at night then in the day. We stayed at the Excellence Resort in Punta Cana. The Staff was amazing and treated us like royalty!

I go there 3 times a year and its great. i go in December, March, and summer usually august. December and march have great weather very comfortable temperatures, However august is the hottest time of the year down there and in the day time personally i don’t do anything at all due to the heat. I assume you are going to a resort so there will probably be facilities that will allow you to cope better with the heat. I don’t go to resorts i stay with family so i have to deal with the heat without ac or anything. I tend to enjoy my vacation more in December and March because of the temperature.
The thing i enjoy most is the people. They are very helpful and friendly. The lively environment filled with music and constant dancing is also very nice. Good luck you will have a lot of fun
We went to an all-inclusive resort in Punta Cana and had a great time. The beaches and weather were beautiful.
The average weather in August has a high temperature of about 30 degrees C, and it rains about 10 days during the month. The rains are light and brief unless you are unlucky enough to get hit with a tropical storm or hurricane. But the odds are fairly low.
I have been to the Dominican Republic (DR) tonnes of times and have so far loved every one of them. I can’t get enough of the place!
I have stayed in various places within the DR but I must say Puerto Plata is by far my favourite. Everything is on offer there – some of the best beachs in the Dominican Republic, night life, shopping – also some of the best resorts.
I did some fantastic trips whilst there too – I swam with dolphins – which is a MUST.. it was fantastic.
I also went horse riding with ‘ranch larilar’ which was the best trip I have ever done in the DR (and I have done tonnes!)
Its cowboy style horse riding through the Dominican Countryside.. seeing the real DR and visiting restaurants and cafes up in the hills (they are not accessable through walking/driving).
I also went on cable cars, visited cigar & brugal rum factories.. visited amber factories..been shopping………..i’ve done most things!
Monster truck safari is good too.
August is a hot, sticky month so I’d suggest a beach vacation. Punta Cana is very trendy but the north coast is cheaper.
okay im dominican i have a house in santo domingo and all i have to say is HANDS DOWN you will LOVE IT! its beautiful and its very hot soo get your swim suits and your bravery up and get ready to have a BLAST!
