Q&A: Do US Conservative Republicans agree Canada’s a good ally?

Question by Eric S: Do US Conservative Republicans agree Canada’s a good ally?
Of all the countries you could possibly have for a neighbor to the north:

Imagine if we had South Korea’s neighbor to the North (North Korea)

Imagine if we had Iran as a neighbor to the North

Imagine if we had people aiming missiles at us from North of the Border

But no, we have Canada:
1) People who love hockey and share in our baseball and basketball.

2) People who provide us with more oil and gas than Saudi Arabia

3) One of our #1 Export Countries for everything from California Raisins to Florida Oranges to Louisiana Hot Sauce to Texas Ribs to Kentucky Fried Chicken to Idaho Potatoes to New Mexico produce, especially in winter months.

4) People who share such a close border with us that not only 90% of their population is near our border, but even logistics are such that you would travel into Canada to cross Buffalo, NY to Detroit, MI, and they travel across the Midwest to go from Toronto to Vancouver.

5) Canadians also respect US holidays. Their broadcasting is very receptive to anecdotal stories in US history, sometimes things even our own country takes for granted. For example, Canada’s CBC did a whole story on the origin of the American rock song “House of the Rising Sun.”

6) Canada has lost more than 125 troops in Southern Afghanistan in efforts to respond to 9/11/01.

7) The longest most peaceful border in the world is that which defines US and Canada. Also sometimes there is absolutely no distinction between Canada and the US.

Take for example Pamela Anderson on Bay Watch, Alex Trebek on Jeopardy, there are people you may not even know are Canadian that are among us. The histories of the settlers are not all that different between the countries.

The Labor histories are very similar, same with civil rights.

The way I see it in the longrun is that even siblings who grow up together have their arguments, and these arguments run deeper than softwood lumber and Freedom Fries and war politics.

Aren’t Canadians very good neighbors to have?
Edit: I’m not Canadian but I love them and take this video for example of their Canada Day celebration in the native Inuit town of Iqaluit.

Note: This is an Inuit Throat Singing Fest.

This is one of my favorites. You must watch this:

We in the US also appreciate all the business that Canadians give to our healthcare providers when they get sick and don’t want to die while they wait for treatment in Canada.

Canada hasn’t been a horrible neighbor but the US would be stupid to trust or rely on them. Canadian politicians have sold out the US to other countries for decades and have hidden it from their own people. The book, “Comrade J” was even BANNED in Canada because this particular Soviet era spy decided to name names and the Canadian government didn’t want their own people to be informed about it. They can’t be trusted.

  8. Canada is the greatest ally we have. Hopefully our “wonderful” president doesn’t screw them the way he is screwing the rest of our allies.
