During the FollowTheRoad.com trip we stayed in Copper Bank village in the North of Belize (Central America) for more than a month during March and April 2006. In the holiday resort, where we got opportunity to stay for free, we learned how to make a coconut milk. We decided to document and share it with you.

    @jmohno

    Yea, after posting on some coconut videos, I have found out that I had a mature coconut… the water and shavings did not taste too good to me. I am going to try a young coconut next time I get the chance.

    @Jerrid3 Hell Ya! I just made some mature coconut milk tonight. cut the meat from the shell and chop alittle take 4 cups warm water and blend about 5 min and strain with cheescloth or a strainer with your hands.then cool .its awesome.way better that a can or the carton stuff.if you like pudding or yogurt consistancy use a young thai coconut and some of the water its easier but i dont think it taste much better the young is a sweeter water though.

    What does coconut milk from a fresh coconut taste like? I have had one coconut before and it was just water… and that did not taste so good. I tried eating the “meat” which is more like concrete shavings and I did not find that too pleasing either. Does the milk make it taste any better?
