Check out a travel agent in Italy and they will best advise you how to go about travelling.
First and foremost you will probably need a passport. As the new laws in place , people from united states also need passports to enter and exit the bahamas. Secondly you need to contact the embassy where you are staying and ask them what else of documents you will need, but a passport should be fine as you will need certain documents to get a passport. Hope this helps.
