I’m thinking of taking a cruise to the bahamas on my honeymoon and I’d love to get at a time of the year where there is a holiday or festival going on. I’m only going there once so I should go on the best day of the year!

Junkanoo! Big parade,big fun. Check out junkanoo.com.its held on boxing day and new years day. I’m heading down on Christmas so I can get in on the fun, and link up with a bobo I met there last month. Anyway, this is the best time to be inthe Bahamas!
Depends on the island you are going to and what you are looking for.
Nassau has junkanoo on Boxing Day and the New Years Day as well as other homecoming festivals, Jollification Day, Independence Celebrations, regatta’s etc. During the summer months.. usually in July, there’s a junkanoo festival on saturdays downtown and at Arawak cay.
The out Island, or family islands celebrate Homecoming, Pineapple Festivals, Regattas, August Monday., Crabfests etc. Most take place in the summer months.
The bahamas consist of 700 islands and cays, you may want to look into which one you want to visit. The main 2 are Nassau/Paradise Island where you’ll find all the tourists, cruiseships and the mega themed Atlantis. Freeport is on Grand Bahama Island. Others that I’d recommend are Abaco, Harbour Island, Eleuthera, Exuma, Bimini, Long Island, Andros or San Salvador. But there are plenty other smaller cays to enjoy as well.
boxing day which is december 26th and its just cool cause u get to c junkanoo which is a traditonal thing in the bahamas.
