I would like to find a job in Vancouver whilst on holiday here visiting some friends. Does anybody know the process? Do I apply for jobs then get a letter of employment to take to the immigration department?

I don’t believe so unless the rules have changed in the last few years. You need to apply for these things in your normal country of citizenship. Applying for a job and then going for permission to work (a visa) will not do you any good as it could take months to get the visa and no employer is going to wait that long for you to start working.

yes, it’s easy, get the form from the post office, fill it up, and mail it off.
usually, you’ll get a response within days

  2. Not while you are visiting. You will have to apply in your home country.

Also, unless you have some special in demand skills that employers are looking for, you won’t find any jobs. We’re in the midst of a thick and worsening recession so the few jobs that are out there will go to Canadian citizens and not foreigners here on tourist visas.
