Bill Alexander paints Holiday Mountain part 2/3 wet on wet oil painting art
www.alexanderart.com William (Bill) Alexander was born in 1915 in East Prussia. As a youth he used his artistic talents to paint carriages and murals for local aristocrats. After the war, Bill and his family immigrated to North America to pursue their dream of building a home and to share Bills gift of painting. Bill and his wife, Margaret, traveled throughout the United States and Canada teaching painting and making friends, often selling paintings to meet living expenses along the way. During this time Bill worked hard to develop his wet-on-wet technique and products. He developed the base medium Magic White, extra-thick oil paints, and special palette knives and brushes. These products work together to help artists, even a beginning artist, create beautiful scenes on the canvas. By 1974, when he completed his first Emmy-winning Magic of Oil painting television show, Bills dream had become a reality. He had built himself a home in North America a home in the hearts of thousands who discovered with Bills help that they could have the almighty power to fire in and be happy painters too. Today, Bill continues to teach the world to paint through his television shows available on DVD.

does anyone know if you use mediums when you make the mountains
@ecisme10 Art doesn’t have to be right. It’s whatever you feel. You take the fun away from it when you start geting so technical. At least that’s my opinion.
nice painting, but thumbs up if you’ve noticed he is putting in the shadows on the wrong sides of the trees.
I love him, he is amazing artist!!!!
What kills me is that he changed his light source! Mountains getting lit from one side, trees getting lit from the other…ugh.
Yes He is the original.. He was Bob Ross’ teacher
@jodcook i noticed that too. i still love this guy but i was like what are you doing! hah
I have been trying to find bob ross videos on here and there only a couple really disapointed me but I found these vids this is even better bill alexander was bob ross’s teacher : ) yeah! this is awesome learning from the master himself lol…even better thanks for posting
@SBPStudio In fact, He teachs Bob Ross =D, you can see this in wikipedia
”That is gooooood living.”
“Won-der-FUL! Won-der-ful.” =D
He’s the best <3
well he sounds a bit Italian in my opinion. By the way An amazing!!! AMAZING painting!!
If the light is coming from the left, why is he doing shadows on the left side of the trees?

January 1997, at the age of 81

@al1936ful Sadly, no. I believe he died in the late 90′s.
@MrJotunheim India?! No…
@MrJotunheim no, germany
Is he from India ?
Is Bill Alexander still alive?
good but yes he got shadows conflicting
excellent!
i think bob was better using the knife but the understanding of coulours is great for both
Same technique as Bob Ross. Loved both of these guys. I like Bobs foliage better though.
@Ms9a9a
me too ! in my opinion the trees are not so good at all. the mountain was awesome but then he overloaded the painting with orange and green
Bill goes hard in the paint.
I really like all of the colors !
@UraharaItsumo The early seasons of Ross’ show give credit to Alexander for developing the technique and mentoring Ross.
Love this guy~Happy all the time….we need more of this,in this world:-)
Everyone needs to remember, In the art community, this is called ” the Alexander Wet-on-Wet Technique” Bob Ross sold it to the masses, that’s all.
Alexander took more time , created much more detail, and he is easier to learn from.
I love to watch him when I’m in a angry frame of mind beacuse watch him and hearing him talk calms me like my dead grandfather would talk to me while doing a crossword puzzle.
Bob Ross’ long lost brother. Love it. ……..I steal art!!
The impression that most people have that Ross “betrayed” Alexander by presenting his technique as his own is false. If you watch his early episodes, he gives credit to Alexander from which he learned the technique. Just because you read something on Wikipedia doesn’t mean it’s true. Do your own research before coming up with incorrect presumptions.
How can I forget The Almighty Paintbrush!!! And White Magic!!
Loved Bill Alexander’s shows, they were the BEST!
amazing… beautiful…lovely…artistic!!!!
he is the best painter…
Ross was Bill’s protege, and he “betrayed” him, by making his art famous and taking credit for him. However true that is or whatnot,
I like Ross better.
“If I smile at the canvas, the canvas smiles back.”
This guy is my hero.
I wants to have a mighty painting!
Oh, Bill was a German from East Prussia, I didn’t know that.
That Explains his strange accent (this accent is almost gone in modern Germany).
what do you clean your brushes with?
Thumbs up if Patton Oswalt sent you.
Bill Bill Bill !!
Simply Stunning! Its refreshing to observe a true master at work. Thank you Mr. Alexander!

amazing and nice job!…=) a lot of thanks wherever hi is
@induchaya As I understand it (and I haven’t done any fact-checking so apologies if I’m mistaken), Bob Ross actually learned from Bill Alexander, so it’s the other way around.
i think this guy copy from bob roos style
Bless his sweet old heart!
How many Saturday mornings I taped him in the 70′s and 80′s!
what should i put on my canvass before i start painting and for what purpose?
and how do i thinner my paint?
