Aussie planning on working holiday across Canada needs help!?

Question by tork: Aussie planning on working holiday across Canada needs help!?
Hi i am 21 and planning to work my way around canada. Anyways I am sick of my average boring life in australia so going from Atlantic to Pacific in 12 months with another mate of mine.

So tell me how is Canada different to Aus and what changes do i need to adapt to? eg Do they drive on the right or left ? anywhere recommended to stay for longer that they dont tell on travel books?
ok thats crazy then.

Canada does not offer a working holiday visa or scheme. To work in Canada, foreigners require a work permit and tourists are not eligible to obtain work permits.

Also, no offense, but Canadians will object strongly and quite understandably to having foreigners treat this country like some kind of personal playground where visitors try to pop on over and dabble in work. What few jobs there may be out there will be offered to our own people.

Do you have your working holiday visa yet? Once you are sure that the travel will happen, you can look up Canada on line and get a lot of information.

It’s hard to get jobs at the moment so you will need some funds to see you through.

  2. There is no such thing as a working holiday visa for Canada. You can get a tourist visa, allowing you to be in Canada for up to 6 months (but you can’t work) or you can apply for a work visa which means you would have to qualify as a skilled worker.

It is really really hard to get a working visa in canada, Your best bet would to be going to a travel expo that can give you alot of information about working overseas, alot of recruiters actually come to hire aussies for work, but the rates of pay arent as good as here in Australia, In canada most positions you can get without having a qualification ie; hospitality would be mainly reliant on tips. It is also difficult to get a working visa for any period of time over six months, Especially in canada and especially if you do not have a degree or a skill they are finding a shortage of qualified people for.

Canadians drive on the wrong side of the road, as long as you are on your full license (off your P’s) you can apply for an international license, however You might want to reconsider driving in Canada especially in winter, as us aussies know nothing about driving on icy roads, also canadians have a few different road rules so you would want to make sure you definetly know them before you even attempted driving there, also they drive ridiculously large cars, which I would never be crazy enoiugh to test out (once I managed to find a ladder and climb up into one that is)

Z is wrong, Canada DOES offer Australians a working holiday visa, yep they drive on the opposite side of the road to you. Canadians are much like Australians and the country is just gorgeous’

Try Wasaga Beach Ontario in the summer, longest fresh water beach in the world

Don’t forget really warm clothes for winter,it gets colder than you can imagine lol

    Canadians drive on the right.
Looking for a working holiday? There’s lots to do in the summer in agriculture – planting, harvesting, etc. and the fruit picking season extends into October. In the winter, you can find yourself a job at a ski lodge and it’s all fair dinkum!
